Final Fantasy XIII-2 releasing 'next winter' in Europe

The official announcement press release for Final Fantasy XIII-2 reveals a couple more, very slight details regarding the game. First, while it will be released in Japan in 2011, it is currently pencilled in for "next winter" in Europe.

Considering winter starts on December 21, chances are this will be an early 2012 release; over a year away.

Additionally, the game will feature a "brand new story" - well, we should hope so - "which stems from the previous title". The battle system will also have "evolved further since XIII". The first has been revealed and... it looks like Final Fantasy XIII. Shocker.

All we'd like to see is an explorable town or two and some proper sidequests. Fix those and we're golden.
